Futures point to recovery on Wall Street
* Futures for the Dow Jones industrial average, the Nasdaq 100 and the S&P 500 DJc1 NDc1 SPc1 were up 0.4-0.6 percent, pointing to a stronger start on Wall Street after major indexes fell sharply on Tuesday on credit and inflation worries.
* Mortgage figures at 1100 GMT are among few pieces of macro data due, while retailer Limited Brands Inc LTD is the only S&P 500 company scheduled to report.
* World No 1 computer and printer maker Hewlett-Packard (HPQ.N: Quote, Profile, Research, Stock Buzz) is in focus after results beat Wall Street targets. Its stock was up 3.5 percent in Frankfurt trading (HPQ.F: Quote, Profile, Research, Stock Buzz). Novatel Wireless (NVTL.O: Quote, Profile, Research, Stock Buzz) slumped 17 percent in Frankfurt (NVTL.F: Quote, Profile, Research, Stock Buzz) after the company reported preliminary second-quarter results.
* Crude oil CLc1, a key factor for energy stocks, traded above $114 a barrel
* The Wall Street Journal said that Intel (INTC.O: Quote, Profile, Research, Stock Buzz) was accelerating efforts to boost computing performance without increasing power consumption including a new turbo technology on forthcoming chips. (Reporting by Sitaraman Shankar; Editing by Paul Bolding)
