Valero: no decision to shut refineries before storm
NEW YORK, Aug 29 (Reuters) - Valero Energy Corp (VLO.N: Quote, Profile, Research, Stock Buzz) said on Friday there was no timetable for a decision on whether the company will reduce production rates or shut down any of its Gulf Coast refineries ahead of Tropical Storm Gustav.
"Valero continues to closely monitor the track and strength of Tropical Storm Gustav. Our Gulf Coast refineries from Houston to St. Charles, Louisiana, remain on alert and at this time are operating at planned rates," Valero spokesman Bill Day said in an email.
"We have taken preliminary precautions to secure equipment and have lined up emergency supplies, if they're needed."
The company also had not made any decision on whether to evacuate personnel, Day said. (Reporting by Rebekah Kebede)
