UPDATE 1-Tesoro says LA refinery restarting alky unit

HOUSTON, Aug 7 (Reuters) - Tesoro Corp (TSO.N: Quote, Profile, Research, Stock Buzz) said its 100,000 barrel per day (bpd) Los Angeles refinery was restarting an alkylation unit on Thursday, one day after it was shut for unplanned repairs.
Prices for unleaded gasoline in the Los Angeles wholesale market gained 4 cents on Thursday because of the shut alkylation unit, said West Coast refined products traders.
An alkylation unit uses refining byproducts to make high-octane gasoline blending components. (Reporting by Erwin Seba; Editing by David Gregorio)
