GENERAL AND POLITICS

- France has sent two airplanes to help extinguish a forest fire in the Rila mountain which has been raging since Sept 3 (Dnevnik, Klasa, Monitor, Novinar, Duma, 24 Chasa, Trud, Sega, Standart).

- Bulgarian rightwing opposition said it had collected about 42,000 signatures against the Socialist-led government since Sept. 6 (Dnevnik, Klasa, Monitor, Novinar, 24 Chasa, Standart).

DNEVNIK - Bulgaria and Romania have the longest working week in the European Union - 41.7 hours per week - which is three hours above the EU average, data from European Foundation for the Improvement of Living and Working Conditions showed.

ECONOMY

STANDART - Bulgarian state cigarette producer Bulgartabak BTHG.BB will offer for sale its profitable mills in Blagoevgrad and Sofia through the stock exchange, Economy Minister Petar Dimitrov said.

- Bulgarian farms which meet the EU standards for quality milk will receive compensations worth 10,000 euros ($14,300) each, the Agriculture State Fund said (Dnevnik, Klasa).

BUSINESS

- Lighthouse Golf Resort will invest 70 million euros ($100.1 million) in a golf complex near the eastern town of Balchik, the company said (Dnevnik, Klasa, Monitor).
