Europe shares pare losses as Wall St turns positive
FRANKFURT, Oct 10 (Reuters) - European shares trimmed losses in afternoon trade on Friday after leading Wall Street equity indexes wiped out sharp early losses, briefly ticking up into positive territory.
At 1415 GMT, the FTSEurofirst 300 .FTEU3 index of top European shares was down 4.5 percent at 880.59, having lost as much as 9.9 percent earlier to hit its lowest level since June 2003.
In the United States, the Dow Jones .DJI was down 0.4 percent, the S&P 500 .SPX down 0.2 percent while the Nasdaq .IXIC was 0.6 percent higher. (Reporting by Peter Starck)
