TOKYO, Aug 22 (Reuters) - Japanese Finance Minister Bunmei Ibuki said on Friday he was not thinking of issuing additional government bonds to finance an expected package of economic support steps.

Ibuki told a news conference after a cabinet meeting that any such issue would depend on how much money was needed to fund the steps, but he added: "I don't have in mind an issue of government bonds."

The government plans to compile an economic package to help businesses and individuals cope with rising energy and food prices amid heightening fears of a recession in the world's second-biggest economy. (Reporting by Leika Kihara)
