BERLIN, Oct 6 (Reuters) - The German finance ministry said on Monday it was not considering a state guarantee for the financial sector.

Earlier in the day, Finance Minister Peer Steinbrueck had spoken of creating an "umbrella" solution for troubled domestic banks.

Asked about what this could look like, ministry spokesman Torsten Albig said: "We are not talking about a state guarantee for banks."

He said that when Steinbrueck had referred to a "Plan B" for the sector, he was referring to "structures that make it easier to deal with the crisis".
