NEW YORK (Reuters) - Alon USA said on Tuesday it would be interested in buying more refineries in the United States if they met the company's criteria.
Alon USA President and Chief Executive Officer Jeff Morris told the Reuters Global Energy Summit in New York that his company would be interested in acquiring refineries, with an eye to those inland in the Rockies and/or midwestern region of the United States.
Morris said refineries that ran cheaper sour or heavy crudes and were fairly complex, were more appealing.
He said that expansion of Alon's most recent refinery acquisition, two California refineries combined into one, is on track to reach 90,000 barrels per day by 2009.
