LONDON (Reuters) - Italy's Saras said on Wednesday its 310,000 barrels-per-day refinery in Sarroch was undergoing partial maintenance until the end of June with the aim of upgrading several units to boost diesel output.
The maintenance and upgrading work, that began at the end of May, involves one of the plant's three crude distillation units, one of its two vacuum units, and a visbreaker, Saras General Manager Dario Scaffardi said at the Reuters Global Energy Summit.
Following the upgrade, the refiner plans to increase diesel production by 150,000 tonnes on a yearly basis.
The partial shutdown coincides with a refinery shutdown at BP's 110,000 barrels-per-day plant in Castellon in Spain that runs through until the beginning of next month.
